Design
Phase
All visits
will be coordinated by previously scheduled appointments,
made by telephone and/or in writing. All Sound Insulation
Program representatives will present identification upon request.
The Architectural/Mechanical
Survey will take about 2-4 hours, and consists of measuring
all doors, windows, room sizes, etc. to develop architectural
drawings of the home. In addition, the architect will also
survey current insulation, electrical service capacity, attic
venting, and mechanical system information. We may need to
install an air conditioning system. This will be decided on
a case by case basis and will be dependent on FAA funding.
During
the architectural survey, the architect will verify that no
building code violations exist. The architect will inform
you of any violations, and you will be responsible for correcting
them before continuing in the Program. Typical violations
may include such items as a lack of heat or a stairway with
broken steps. All homes must meet building code if the home
is to be included in the program.
The Product
Selection meeting will take place with a representative from
Wyle Laboratories. The meeting will be conducted at your home
and should last approximately 1-2 hours. The purpose of this
meeting is to discuss window and door options as well as determine
any unique features that may need to be addressed for sound
insulation purposes. Your home will be videotaped and/or photographed
during this appointment. The video and/or photographs will
be used solely for the purpose of recording the pre-construction
condition of your home as well as the design and bidding process.
