Notice
Issued To Passengers Departing From Lehigh Valley International
Airport
Contact: George

Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority
1 - 800 - FLY - LVIA
Lehigh Valley,
PA - The Lehigh Northampton Airport Authority has been advised
by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) that they will
begin screening of all checked baggage Monday, December 30, 2002.
This is one day ahead of the federally mandated start date.
The Airport
Authority recommends that passengers allow more time for the check-in
process if they will be checking bags. Passengers with only carry-on
baggage will not be affected. During the initial start-up period,
the Airport Authority recommends that passengers with checked bags
arrive two hours ahead of departure. We believe that significant
delays are possible at all airports as this new process is put in
place.
This is a federally
mandated program operated by the TSA. While we support the goal
of 100% baggage inspection and are providing assistance to the TSA,
neither the Airport Authority nor the airlines serving Lehigh Valley
International Airport have any responsibility or control over the
process.
Passengers are
urged to call 1-800-FLY-LVIA or visit www.LVIA.org for current flight
information.
Lehigh Valley
International Airport is located near Allentown, Pennsylvania and
serves a twelve county area with a population of 2.5 million people.
The Airport is easily accessible from communities in eastern Pennsylvania
and northern New Jersey areas.
