Lehigh Valley,
Pa. - The Lehigh Northampton Airport Authority announced today
the availability of its high-speed wired and wireless internet service
at the Lehigh Valley International Airport. Hot Spots and wired
desk locations are now available for use to the traveling public,
along with existing dial-up locations.
The Wireless
service is designed to keep business travelers who are away from
their home or office connected. The Airport utilizes Wi-Fi, also
referred to as 02.11b, which has emerged as the preeminent international
standard for wireless broadband internet access. Wi-Fi provides
speeds of up to 11 megabits per second, almost 200 times faster
than 56k dial-up service.
Starting today,
travelers may access Hot Spots throughout the departure building,
and access fixed wire locations in our existing Business Center.
This is good news especially for business travelers who until now
have found connecting from the road difficult, slow and expensive
- in addition to all of the other hassles of travel. The airport
plans on providing the service free to all customers who travel
through the airport.
Lehigh Valley
International Airport is located near Allentown, Pennsylvania and
serves a twelve county area with a population of 3.6 million people.
The Airport is easily accessible from communities in eastern Pennsylvania
and northern New Jersey areas.
