With Holiday Gifts

Lehigh Valley,
PA - Airport officials announced today that added security measures
this year will impose some new constraints on traveling with holiday
gifts.
Ideally, the
best way to send packages this year is to send them ahead of time,
if possible, and not take them with you. However, if passengers
decide to hand carry their gifts, the following steps should be
taken:
- Do not wrap
gifts. Airline security personnel will open gifts if the X-ray
scan cannot
determine the contents, therefore creating additional delays.
- Gifts may
also be checked in your luggage. However, still subject to search.
- Electronic
items may be subjected to additional screening. Do not take electronic
items that cannot be easily searched. Be prepared to have items
x-rayed.
The Airport
Authority issued a press release last week recommending that passengers
need to arrive only one hour prior to departure if checking luggage,
45 minutes prior to departure if going directly to the gate, and
two hours prior to departure for flights to Toronto and Puerto Rico.
Lehigh Valley
International Airport is located near Allentown, Pennsylvania and
serves a twelve county area with a population of 2.5 million people.
The Airport is easily accessible from communities in eastern Pennsylvania
and northern New Jersey areas.
