Lehigh Northampton Airport Authority Opens Cell Phone Waiting Area at Lehigh Valley International Airport
Lehigh Valley, PA—Starting today, travelers using the Lehigh Valley International Airport will benefit from another convenience designed to keep their journey hassle-free, particularly during the upcoming busy holiday travel season.
Instead of competing for limited spots along the curbside at the terminal building at peak flight times, motorists picking up arriving passengers can wait free of charge at fifteen (15) specially-designated spaces located in a safe and convenient spot near the airport entrance. Once the arriving passenger reaches the curbside with luggage in hand, a quick call on the cell phone will alert the waiting party and they can then proceed to the terminal curbside to pick up the traveler and be on their way.
The cell phone waiting area can be located by following the yellow and black symbol signs upon entering the airport. The recommended maximum occupancy time is 30 minutes. Drivers must remain in their vehicle at all times while waiting to pick up arriving passengers.
"The cell phone waiting area benefits everyone by increasing safety on airport roadways and reducing congestion at the curbside pickup zones," commented George F. Doughty, Executive Director of the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority. He further stated, "The cell phone waiting area is part of our on-going commitment to improve the quality of the travel experience at the Lehigh Valley International Airport."
Lehigh Valley International Airport is located near Allentown, Pennsylvania and serves a twelve county area with a population of 3.6 million people. The Airport is easily accessible from communities in eastern Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey areas.
