Lehigh Valley,
Pa. - Airport officials reported 1,002,895 passengers traveled
through the Lehigh Valley International Airport from July 1, 1999
through June 30, 2000. This is the first time in airport history
that more than one million passengers utilized the airport in any
twelve-month period. 92,590 travelers passed through the Lehigh
Valley International Airport in June 2000, up 6.42% from June 1999
when 87,001 travelers used the airport.
"I am extremely
pleased with the continued growth in the number of passengers who
are using our airport. We continue to attract passengers from throughout
Eastern Pennsylvania and Western New Jersey," reported George F.
Doughty, Executive Director for the Lehigh Northampton Airport Authority.
"All eleven airlines serving the Lehigh Valley International Airport
have experienced passenger growth over the past twelve months. The
continued success of Delta Express and USAirways with their affordable
fare and nonstop jet service to Orlando has played a major role
in the passenger volume growth."
The Airport
Authority has continued its television advertising campaign on major
television stations and cable channels in Eastern Pennsylvania and
Northern New Jersey. The campaign is designed at increasing consumer
awareness of the Airport and its ease and accessibility of getting
to and from the travelers destination.
Lehigh Valley
International Airport is located near Allentown, Pennsylvania and
