PASSENGER TRAFFIC CONTINUES TO INCREASE AT LEHIGH VALLEY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Lehigh Valley, PA – Passenger traffic at Lehigh Valley International Airport jumped 14.9% in May 2010 compared to the same period last year. Passenger volume has been increasing steadily since July 2009 with the exception of weather related cancellations earlier this year in February. Year-to-date for 2010 passenger traffic is up 5.59%.
“This appears to be a combination of new service offerings by AirTran Airways and American Eagle plus increases in available seats by other carriers,” commented George F. Doughty, Executive Director for the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority. Doughty continued by saying, “These numbers also indicate the beginning of a return of the business traveler as the economy improves. We expect to see the summer months up sharply and continued positive numbers for the rest of 2010.”
