Lehigh Valley,
Pa. - Airport officials reported 93,705 passengers passed through
the Lehigh Valley International Airport this May compared to May
2000 when 91,978 travelers utilized the Airport. Year to date passengers
were 401,475 compared to 396,557 in 2000 an increase of 1.24%.
"We are
extremely pleased with the continued growth in passengers,"
reported George F. Doughty, Executive Director for the Lehigh-Northampton
Airport Authority. He went on to say, "Despite the Comair strike
our traffic has continued to grow. Also, the success of affordable
fares and nonstop jet service from Pan Am, Delta Express and USAirways
to Orlando, Florida has played a major role in our continued growth."
Pan Am also added connecting service to San Juan, Puerto Rico in
May.
Lehigh Valley
International Airport is located near Allentown, Pennsylvania and
serves a twelve county area with a population of 2.5 million people.
The Airport is easily accessible from communities in the eastern
Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey areas.
