Passenger Traffic Continues to Soar at Lehigh Valley International Airport
Lehigh Valley, PA— May 2007 proved to be another strong month for the Lehigh Valley International Airport (LVIA). Airport officials announced today that passenger traffic increased 10.91% over May, 2006. In May, 73,261 travelers utilized LVIA compared to 66,055 in 2006. Year-to-date, 338,168 passengers have used the airport, up 10.12% over 2006 figures.
Growth by Allegiant Airlines, Delta Connection, Northwest, and United contributed to the increase. The entire traffic report can be located at www.lvia.org/info_booth/traffic_repts.html.
Lehigh Valley International Airport is located near Allentown, Pennsylvania and is served by Air Canada's Air Georgian, Allegiant, Continental Express, Delta Connection, Northwest, United Express and US Airways. LVIA serves a twelve county area with a population base of 3.6 million people. The Airport is easily accessible from communities in eastern Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey areas. The airport is entirely funded by user fees; no property tax dollars are used for the airport's capital improvements or for its day-to-day operation.
