Lehigh Valley International Airport Mass Casualty Training Exercise
Lehigh Valley, Pa. – The Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority, in conjunction with the Eastern Pennsylvania EMS Council will conduct a mass casualty training exercise at the Lehigh Valley International Airport on Saturday, May 21, 2005 beginning at 8:30am.
The purpose of the exercise is to activate the Airport’s Emergency Plan and test the operational procedures for responding emergency medical service providers and firefighters if ever confronted with an incident involving a large number of victims at the airport. The training will focus on the Emergency Response Guidelines as prepared by the EMS Council; the Airport’s EMS Mass Casualty Incident Plan; the required communication links and the protocol between EMS providers, and the Lehigh-Northampton 911 Communication Centers. The Lehigh Valley Hospital locations at Cedar Crest, 17 th & Chew Streets, Muhlenberg locations, St. Luke’s Allentown/Bethlehem hospitals, Sacred Heart Hospital and Easton Hospitals will all assist in the exercise.
Lehigh Valley International Airport is located near Allentown, Pennsylvania and serves a twelve county area with a population of 3.6 million people. The Airport is easily accessible from communities in eastern Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey areas.
