Lehigh Valley International Airport Reports Record First Quarter Numbers For 2004

Lehigh Valley, Pa. - Airport officials announced today that 94,092 passengers traveled through the Lehigh Valley International Airport (LVIA) in the month of FEBRUARY marking this as the busiest FEBRUARY in the airport's history. This was 15.99% above FEBRUARY 2003 figures when 81,121 passengers used the airport. These increases in passenger growth have made this a record-breaker first quarter of 2004 for the Lehigh Valley International Airport. 251,135 passengers have utilized LVIA during the first three months of 2004, a 17.95% increase over the first quarter of 2003. The Airport has been steadily adding passengers since the low-fare carrier Southeast Airlines began service in August of 2002. Southeast Airlines currently has nonstop flights to Orlando/Sanford International Airport, Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg Clearwater International Airport, Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport and direct service via Columbus, OH to Las Vegas. Continental Express, Northwest Airlines, United Express and US Airways serving LVIA also reported increases in their passenger traffic in the month of FEBRUARY.

"We are continuing to increase our market share in the eastern Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey region and more travelers are recognizing the convenience of the airport and the excellent service options provided by our airlines," commented George F. Doughty, Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority Executive Director.

Lehigh Valley International Airport is located near Allentown, Pennsylvania and is served by Air Canada's Air Georgian, Continental Express, Continental Connection, Delta Connection, Northwest Airlines, Southeast Airlines, United Express and US Airways. LVIA serves a twelve county area with a population base of 3.6 million people. The Airport is easily accessible from communities in eastern Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey areas.
