Strong Passenger Growth Continues at Lehigh
Valley
International Airport

Pa. - Airport officials reported a strong FEBRUARY for passenger
activity at Lehigh Valley International Airport. A total of 69,407
passengers passed through the Airport in FEBRUARY, a 10.93% increase
over FEBRUARY of 1999 when 62,569 travelers passed through the Airport.
Passenger volumes for the year have been increasing, on average,
at a rate of 9.73%. The Lehigh Valley International Airport has
shown a continued growth in passenger activity since May of 1999.
"USAirways
and Delta Air Lines saw the greatest increase in passenger enplanements
with nearly 2,500 and 1,000 additional passenger respectfully last
month," reported George F. Doughty, Executive Director for
the Lehigh Northampton Airport Authority. He went on to say, "The
continued success of affordable fare nonstop jet service from Delta
Express and USAirways to Orlando and additional competitive fare
one-stop jet service to other Florida destinations continue to be
a major factor in the steady increase in our passenger volume."
Lehigh Valley
International Airport is located near Allentown, Pennsylvania and
serves a population of 5.5 million people in a 50-mile radius and
within a 60-minute drive from the Airport. The Airport is the hassle-free
alternative for access to eastern Pennsylvania and northern New
Jersey.
