Lehigh Valley,
Pa. - Airport officials announced today that 75,654 passengers
traveled through the Lehigh Valley International Airport
(LVIA)
in the first month of the year. This was 14.80% above January
2003 figures when 65,898 passengers used the airport. This
is the busiest
January in the airport's history. While most airlines serving
LVIA saw a growth in their passenger traffic, Airport officials
attribute
the increase in traffic to the strong leisure travel market bolstered
by low-fare carrier Southeast Airlines to Florida and Las
Vegas.
Southeast Airlines currently has nonstop flights to Orlando/Sanford
International Airport, Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg Clearwater
International
Airport and the Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport.

"In addition
to the growing Southeast Airlines service, many other airlines are
now offering great fares to popular destinations like Denver, Los
Angeles, San Francisco, Cleveland, Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta and
Charlotte," commented George F. Doughty, Lehigh-Northampton
Airport Authority Executive Director.
Lehigh Valley
International Airport is located near Allentown, Pennsylvania
and
is served by Air Canada's Air Georgian, Continental Express,
Continental Connection, Delta Connection, Northwest Airlines,
Southeast Airlines,
United Express and US Airways. LVIA serves a twelve county area
with a population base of 3.6 million people. The Airport is
easily
accessible from communities in eastern Pennsylvania and northern
New Jersey areas. Travelers can contact the Lehigh Valley International
Airport at 1-800-FLY-LVIA (359-5842) or visit the Airport's website
at www.lvia.org
for more information on services and facilities.
