Airport Sets New Yearly Record With Over One Million Total Passengers

Lehigh Valley,
Pa. - Airport officials reported 1,013,710 passengers traveled
through the Lehigh Valley International Airport from January 1,
2000 through December 31, 2000. This is the first time in airport
history that more than one million passengers utilized the airport
in a calendar year. 76,041 travelers passed through the Lehigh Valley
International Airport in December 2000.
"I am extremely
pleased with the continued growth in the number of passengers who
are using our airport. We continue to attract passengers from throughout
Eastern Pennsylvania and Northern New Jersey," reported George F.
Doughty, Executive Director for the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority.
He went on to say, "All twelve airlines serving the Lehigh Valley
International Airport have experienced passenger growth over the
past year. The continued success of Delta Express and USAirways
service with their affordable fares and nonstop jet service to
Orlando has played a major role in the passenger volume growth."
"We believe Pan American's new service to the Orlando area will
also be well received."

International Airport is located near Allentown, Pennsylvania and
serves a twelve county area with a population of 2.3 million people.
The Airport is easily accessible from communities in Northern New
Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania.
